PAPER, PLANTAR PRESSURE ASSESMENT

These four components contribute to the Comprehensive Diabetic Foot Examination, a visually engaging clinical experience used to identify and stratify the triad of risk factors: Neuropathy, Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) and Deformity that interact to ultimately result in ulceration. VFCTDERMASTAT – The digital monitor quickly measures skin moisture levels with a non-destructive measuring approach, governed by Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (BIA) technology. VFCTVIBRATIP – VibraTip easily replaces the 128Hz tuning fork or biothesiometer as an accepted approach to the testing for diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). This single, small device can effectively offer the same diagnostic capabilities currently attributed to the work of these two devices. The vibration stimulus emitted from the VibraTip reaches deeper into the skin surface than the point pressure created by a monofilament. VFCTACUSENSE – The 5.07/10gm monofilament is used to identify loss of protective sensation; a key sign of sensory neuropathy. VFCTPRESSSTAT – Dynamic, calibrated footprint imaging device used to identify and measure areas of high focal plantar pressure and identify structural and biomechanical anomalies – key signs of motor neuropathy. High pressure areas appear as dark spots to create a visual interpretation that “dark is dangerous.”
